The Start Of It All
We made our first visit to Alicante to check out Galgos del Sol, a galgo rescue we wanted to support. It was about 90 minutes south, but as we drove through the city and down the coast, we knew this was an area that we could see ourselves living. Our goal over the years was to eventually move out of the US and either to the EU or maybe even SE Asia.
We ended up staying a couple of nights and really enjoyed Alicante and all the things it had to offer. Just in that short of time, you could see life was different here. This was the moment the Costa Blanca entered the picture as a serious place to live. While we were also starting to consider Italy (Puglia) and Portugal, there was just something about this area that was unique and special.
We kept talking about it for months after our visit. That was all it took to start seeing if we could make it come to fruition.
