Ready To Go Back For Another House Hunting Trip
After our successful August trip, we were ready to plan the next one.
We’d learned our lesson about checking the Spanish holiday calendar first — that ruled out November, December and the first half of January. We landed on the first week of February instead: no Spanish holidays in the way and it happened to line up with a work trip one of us already had to North Africa. Reservations made.
There was still plenty to do in the interim. We kept working with our financial advisors on the transition and scheduled a visit with our lawyer for while we’d be in Jávea in February. But it was also time to dig into everything else — how the house-purchasing process actually works once we find a place, how we’ll move money to Spain when we need it, how we wrap up life in the US and a dozen other open questions.
That’s what inspired this website. We wanted to document our research and our journey so other people thinking about relocating to Spain would have one place to find what the process actually looks like. It’s also been fun for us — something to look back on once we’re settled and a place to keep our research organized as we go.
